Geauga Park District....

"STILL" Out Of Control ! 

 The amount of tax money going to be required from us for state and federal programs will be staggering. Our governor is cutting tax dollars to be sent back to our townships now. Schools and local services are all ready being strained.

  The Geauga Park District has hired additional employees and has given about a 10% raise to its employees. The Geauga Park District is the second largest spender of our county tax dollars per the Geauga County Auditor’s web site. I don’t know about you but our wages have been cut and our benefits are being reduced. One way we can get tax dollars back is a petition to repeal the tax levies or petition to dissolve the Geauga Park District as provided for in the Ohio Revised Code 1545.36 “Petition for dissolution of district”. This will put more of our tax dollars back in our pockets to determine where we want to spend it.

We couldn't agree more Al. 

You are soooo right! We say YES to disolving it!  Alot of people we have spoken to in Geauga County agree that the Park District is way out of control with their lavish spending and continual land aquisitions.

Just how many parks do we need in Geauga anyway? Geauga is so beautiful, everyone's lot is like a mini park.  The radical TREE HUGGERS out there will disagree, I'm sure of it.

The Park District is the biggest land owner in Geauga and all their aquired land is taken off the tax rolls therefore substantially reducing County income....they take the second lions share of county tax money....most of their land just sits there doing nothing....the Park board and director Tom Curtain are very rude and arrogant as is the person who appoints them, Jeckyl and Hyde Juvenile/Probate Judge Charles Henry. 

It was related to us by a person Tom Curtain had spoken to that he arrogantly stated that what he says is written in stone and that he and the park board answer to no one.  WOWWWW!  You mean they take the second largest share of Geauga County revenue....the peoples hard earned money....and they "answer to no one"?....doing whatever pleases THEM at the expense of others.  If this isn't the height of arrogance I'm not sure I can think of a better example.  But again, this attitude starts at the top and trickles down.... the person who appointed them....who hires people having the same arrogance as he....Jeckyl and Hyde Judge Charles Henry.

Everytime the Park District aquires a new tract of land, disrupting and abusing the homeowners around it, having no consideration for them, their attitude is....eventually the people will learn to live with it and accept it.  They are just oooozing with arrogance!

As the economy gets worse, more jobs are lost, more incomes decrease, more foreclosures occur, things get tighter and tighter, including a substantial county budget deficit, more people will realize that the Geauga Park District and their trivial services, flagrant spending and their 14 million dollar budget  are a waste of money!!  When I say trivial services, I know the parks have some good programs for children, but when compared to more important services like the Sheriff Dept., Fire and EMS, schools,.....which are much more important to fund.....the Park District comes up way short.  The amount of money they spend compared to their programs is so disproportionate that the end can't possibly justify the means.
