"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12

Anyone who has ever wrestled will tell you that it is the most exhausting sport you can ever be engaged in. You are battling at full capacity for 100% of the match, and even then you may lose. You cannot let your guard down for an instant, or your opponent will have you pinned. You are on defense and offence at all times. You dare not hesitate to take advantage of even the smallest opportunity. If we as “flesh and blood” are able to sense and take advantage of an opponent, how much more would a supernatural opponent be able to do so? God has equipped us for this match with the “sword of the Spirit,” and we are told, “…having done all, stand!” Don’t yield an inch. Make sure you are outfitted correctly. The sword belongs to the Holy Spirit and must be used in His power and might. It’s two-edged. It cuts both ways. It will convict of sin in our own life, and send the devil packing, as well. We have the victory, it’s already secured. “Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” We need only to hold the hill. The enemy desperately wants the high ground we already stand upon, and will spare no expense to get it.   Faith is our shield against the fiery darts of doubt and discouragement that are constantly being hurled in our direction. The enemy never rests, and neither should we. “Praying always with all prayer…” “Pray without ceasing.” Do you get the idea that we should maintain a good communications link?  Your enemy is unseen. You can only see the “symptoms” of evil. We can not see harmful bacteria, but we can see the symptoms of its presence. We know what to do to eradicate them. We know what to do about evil, as well. We have a detailed operations manual about the enemy, how to fight him, and all the weaponry necessary.

Mere flesh and blood is not our foe,

Evil lurks wherever we go,

For victory we do not fight

We battle in our Lord’s own might! ~CGP

This is not a battle for victory. This is a cleanup operation much like the one we faced at the end of WWII. The war was over, but the enemy remained ferocious. Satan, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl. He will devour whatever comes his way! Be vigilant!
