Income Tax is choice for Chardon Schools?
I think not…
The Chardon Board of Education has all but ensured passage of their income tax levy by notifying all non-taxpayers, i.e., welfare recipients, the unemployed and persons on “fixed incomes” that they will be exempt from this new tax burden. Residents who do not pay taxes will pass this vote without concern or regard for those taxpayers who already pay the lion share of care and support for Geauga County.
Cynthia Sague needs to put down her “Kool-Aid” and clear her head
because this is not a “fairer tax” as she so “Marie Antoinettely” states in Joseph Koziol Jr.’s article titled, “Income tax is choice for Chardon Schools”.
And worse yet is the statement by Truman Parkinson of Munson, who said, “Folks with income may not like it, but they should be thankful that they have income from which to pay in order to keep the local schools “best in state.”
Is Mr. Parkinson so arrogant that he thinks he can get away with pompously reprimanding the residents of Chardon?
People are really struggling to make ends meet, some of them don’t have bread…maybe the Chardon Board of Education wants them to eat cake.

Thanks Judy.
I say give the to more taxes and levies of any kind in this bad economy!
I am sick and tired of the "threat" mentality of boards of education and government agencies that use this kind of scare tactic and threaten to take services away if we don't pass another levy or tax.
I am even more sick and tired of the wimps in the community who cower and succumb to these threats. These wimps are part of the problem...they allow themselves to be bullied...by bullies... out of fear. Get rid of these bullies! Don't keep voting them in!.....and most of all, don't keep voting for more taxes and levies!....this has not and will not solve our problems!!
Stand tough and fight back! Don't allow yourself to bullied! So what if they cut some services....in tough times we all may have to make some sacrifices! Don't worry, the kids will still get a good education without some of the frills. Did you ever check out the statistics on cost of education per child? It is disgusting and unnecessary.
What's more important?.....feeding your family, paying your bills, keeping a roof over your head....or....being #1 on a skewed rating system the state made up.
The statement by Truman Parkinson of Munson, who said,
“Folks with income may not like it, but they should
be thankful that they have income from which to
pay in order to keep the local schools “best in state.”
This is very insensitive of him. Maybe he has plenty of money he
would like to give away in taxes but others don't. Yes Truman,
people should be thankfull they have a job and income....to take
care of their families!!....not to give away in taxes to people who
couldn't run a small business successfully let alone an agency
they head.
Let the school board learn to do what small businesses do....cut
the fat, manage more efficiently, find creative ways of increasing
income and obtaining needed items.
Stop using the public as your bottomless well when the
water gets low! |
